Connecting Estes Valley Quilters With Those Who Need Hugs Most
At The Mountain Hug Project quilts represent warmth, comfort, and compassion. Our handmade quilted items are generously donated by talented quilters from the Estes Park community. These gifts provide support and encouragement to local newborns, vulnerable children, isolated seniors, and veterans. Through every stitch, our mission is to ensure each recipient feels seen, valued, and embraced by the community they call home.

Crafting Comfort Together
Our Mission
Our Vision
To provide handmade quilted items from local Estes Valley quilters to bring comfort, hugs, and healing to new-born infants, in need or displaced children, isolated elderly, and veterans ensuring every recipient knows they are seen, valued and not forgotten.
An Estes community united in compassion, where handmade quilts become symbols of celebration, gratitude and healing for all generations – from our littlest ones to our heroes and elders, building a valley of enduring warmth and remembrance.

Why We Care?
Every quilt begins with a maker ... someone stitching warmth, care, and hope into every seam. Every quilt ends with a person experiencing a meaningful moment ... whether a family is celebrating a new arrival or facing an unexpected hardship.
We are the bridge between the two.
The Mountain Hug Project connects local Estes Valley quilters, guilds, and sewing volunteers with children, families, and individuals who need comfort when it matters most. Through this connection, handmade items become more than fabric ... they become a gift of stability, dignity, and love.
Our Hugs
We engage in various projects aimed at delivering new donated handmade quilts to those who need them most, ensuring that each quilt carries a message of love and support.

Little Hugs
Crafted with Love
Our smallest quilts that are soft, comforting 30" × 40" quilts* or blankets are crafted with gentle fabrics, child‑safe materials, and patterns chosen to bring warmth, calm, and joy to the very beginning of life. These quilts are more than blankets. They are a baby’s first belonging ... something warm to be wrapped in, held in, and welcomed with.

Big Hugs
Warmth and Reassurance
Child sized hugs that are 40" x 50" quilts*. Childhood can bring moments of joy, but also moments of transition, fear, or instability. A handmade quilt can help a child feel grounded and safe. A personal item a child can keep, carry, and claim as their own. A Big Hug becomes a steady companion.

Warm Hugs
Dignity and Seen
Our 36" × 50" lap‑sized quilts* are handmade for seniors, elders, and veterans who may be isolated, recovering, or navigating moments of vulnerability. Each quilt is created with care, intention, and durable, cozy materials to offer warmth and reassurance when it’s needed most. A Warm Hug is more than a quilt ... it is a gesture of honor, gratitude, and human connection.

Helping Hugs
Support
Our quilted walker bags are sturdy, 16" × 18" handmade carriers* with pockets designed to help those using walkers keep essential items handy. A Helping Hug is more than a bag ... it is a practical expression of care that supports mobility, independence, and confidence.
* Sizes on all quilted items may vary in size.
